Fiona Dalgetty, Fiddle and Dance Caller
Fiona is an accomplished performer and, in addition to her work with Highland Ceilidh, she has previously been a member of Òr and the Auld Reekie Ceilidh Band. Fiona has performed as far afield as the USA, China and Eastern Europe and she has featured on several television programmes including Jamie Oliver’s The Naked Chef, the BBC2 Mòd programme, and STV’s Ceòl na Fìdhle. Fiona was delighted to be invited to perform on Niel Gow’s fiddle at the Royal National Mòd in 2004.
Fiona studied violin from the age of 11 under local instructor Debbie Ross and regularly attended courses put on by the Gaelic arts organisation she now manages, Fèis Rois. Fiona developed an interest in the Gaelic language through her involvement with Fèis Rois and she went onto study Celtic Studies at the University of Edinburgh, graduating with MA (Hons) in 2005.
After an enjoyable eight years in Edinburgh, Fiona has returned to the Highlands and is based in Inverness.
