Mixed Instrument Workshop

Tunes, harmonies and rhythms for fiddles and other instruments.

Christine Hanson will be tutoring a workshop of ‘cello skills for fiddle and other instruments’ in Strachur on Sunday 11th May.The aim of the day is

to enable you to ‘get in on a session’ when you don’t know the tune (or in the case of some of us, we do know the tune but cannot play at the speed of the session!)

Christine is a well- known cellist who plays solo as well as in a number of groups in both Scotland and her native Canada. She developed the theme of this workshop during her regular tutoring stints at Blazin’ In Beauly, and her classes there are always well attended.

Christine will teach a couple of tunes, then players will work on rhythmic accompaniment ideas and harmony, as well as some improvisation.(Support fiddler for the day will be Emily Goan, who studied fiddle while at school in Dunoon, and is also former member of LFW classes.)

The day is being co-ordinated by local traditional fiddle workshop LFW, but the workshop is open to all acoustic musicians, so if you play one or more stringed or blown instruments please do come along and give this workshop a try – suitable for all levels of ability from beginners (6+months playing) to advanced.Christine Hanson is an excellent teacher and you will enjoy your day – as well as developing some new skills!
